About the Art Exhibition

Want an enjoyable day in the beautiful Yarra Valley treating yourself to some outstanding local art exhibited in a unique, rural setting? Or perhaps you’re looking to buy an original artwork by talented local artists.

The Warratina Lavender Farm Art Show could be just the place you’ve been looking for.

This year, the Show will be judged, with the exhibition theme being “My Favourite Place in the Yarra Valley”.

Enjoy the Art Show, spoil yourself with some scumptous home-made food or a coffee in the restaurant and finish with a stroll around the beautiful gardens – a delight in Spring. It’s a wonderful, relaxing way to wile away the time.

A wide range of paintings by members of the Mount Evelyn and Yarra Valley Arts Society will be on display. All works will be available for purchase at very modest prices. A selection of unique greeting cards and craft items will also be available.

The paintings exhibited will include works in various mediums and styles – traditional and contemporary – and some of the artists will be in attendance at various stages during the week to answer your questions.

Visitors are very welcome and entry to view the exhibition is free. So come along and enjoy.

Time – 1:30pm to 4:00 pm
Venue – Coldstream Community Centre, Kelso Street, Coldstream – Melways Map 281 B10

Demonstration – The demonstration this month will be given by Julie Goldspink, who will be working in watercolours. Julie has exhibited widely in New South Wales and Victoria, and is currently based in Blairgowrie.

Julie describes her approach to painting as follows:

” … works in the area of traditional media but does a lot of experimenting in the area of mixed media, while she is probably best known for watercolours. She likes to describe herself best as a realist impressionist and doesn’t like to be governed by one style, medium or subject. Watercolours are wet into wet technique.”

“Art is an addiction for me that never wanes,” Julie says. “I hope to be able to enjoy painting and exhibiting for the rest of my life.”

Among Julie’s most recent achievements are:

2010 – 1st Prize – Mid north Coast Open Art Prize

2011 – Overall Champion – Camden Haven Show
